Dreaming in de ja vu

Sleeping beside her boyfriend, the girl dreamed that she was walking in a corridor. It was dark but at the end of the hallway, she saw that there was a door with light brimming from within. She walked faster because of fear. It seemed as if the walls around her had a life of its own, breathing cold air that seemed to touch her bare arms.

For every step, the corridor grew at least a foot, making the door smaller and smaller. She walked faster but the hallway seemed to lengthen as well.

In panic, she ran as if her very life depended on it. Cold sweat covered her brow and this time she felt as if the walls are also enclosing in on her. They also grew hands, black as night, trying to catch her as she ran.

When she thought that she would never reach that door, she grabbed the doorknob and turned it open. She slammed it behind her just as an ominous looking hand nearly grasped her ankle.

The room was filled with night lamps and she saw that it was their bedroom and her boyfriend was sleeping alone on the bed. She hurriedly got beside him and though he stirred as she wrapped her arms around him, he didn’t wake up.

She breathed a sigh of relief and closed her eyes. She was safe.

Suddenly, something grabbed her left ankle and she screamed in fright to find a man with long hair and no face right beside her, he was holding her left arm so tight and he was trying to make her go with him.

She screamed and held on to her sleeping boyfriend, waking him up. He looked at her eyes filled with tears.

Groggily he asked,

“Uhm…what happened?”

She sobbed and replied,” I had a nightmare. Someone was trying to take me away from you. Hold me, please.”

He looped his arm around her and said, “Shh, don’t worry now. It was just a bad dream. Go to sleep now.”

He kissed her forehead and embraced her more tightly. She breathed in a sigh of comfort. She closed her eyes, still a bit terrified but sleepy already.

A few moments passed and she felt her boyfriend shifting his position. She let him since his arm might be complaining. With her eyes still closed she turned to her left side and then to her fright, a hand grabbed her right arm and held on tight.

She screamed and she knew it was he again. She opened her eyes to confirm her thoughts and when she saw him again, she screamed some more. She tried turning towards her boyfriend and when she finally did, her right arm fell with such a force on her sleeping boyfriend that it woke him up.

She looked at him in dismay. Maybe she should go with the man with no face, just so she can wake up to reality, again.
